Hello my name is Gerald Anderson. I grew up on a small farm in Central Alberta in the heart of the foothills. As a young boy I was introduced to the outdoors by my parents, both of which were avid outdoor enthusiasts. They spent countless hours teaching me how to fish the pristine lakes west of our home and the importance of conserving our catches. They would soon introduce me to world of big game hunting; I would follow every footstep as they pursued their quarry. I learned how to approach Game undetected and be successful.
At the age of 13 I was off and running. Chasing game from the farm house to the lake block, with mom and dad close behind. Just when I thought I knew what I was doing, I was proven wrong and ended up empty handed on more than one occasion. As the years went on my knowledge of the animals improved and my success began to rise. My love for the outdoors and the respect for Mother Nature grew within me.
Now that I’m older with kids of my own, I hope I can do as good of a job instilling the love of the outdoors in them, as my parents did for me. Always remember it’s not about the kill or the catch, it’s about being a part of nature and the lessons it will teach you along the way.
